Regina Uprety, probably the most sought after leading lady today in Nepali cinema has it going pretty good for herself in the last couple of years. Known as much for her bold statements in the media as for her glamorous characters on screen; not to mention her frequent tryst with fellow actresses, she has nonetheless, been reigning the roost for sometime now. Having stepped into the bad, wild and extremely competitive but stagnant film industry about seven years back, she has already acted in over 50 Neplai films, albeit most of them seldom worth mentioning. However, films such as ‘Indreni’, ‘Agnipath’, ‘Shakti’, ‘Karnaveer’, Raju Rajaram’, ‘Durga’ and a host of others have propelled her to the status that she proudly enjoys today and with such films as ‘Sandesh’, ‘Jai Shiv Shankar’ and ‘Kusume Rumal 2’ in the pipeline, you can bet on her grabbing the headlines ahead of her compatriots in the near future. Besides her hectic schedule from all her ‘filmi’ activities, she has now taken some time off and has got herself into broadcasting on the radio as well. ‘Regina Sangha Maya Ka Kura’, a relationship based program on love and the problems associated with it started being broadcast from 27th June every Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Star FM 95.2 in Kathmandu and 95.6 MHtz outside the valley.
